Mississippi Action for Community Education, Inc. is a non-profit, minority rural development organization created by community leaders in 1967 to stimulate physical, social, and economic development in the rural Mississippi Delta. Very early in its history, MACE learned that beyond the problems of race and poverty, there exists in southern, rural communities the broader, structural problem of underdevelopment; that for genuine community development to occur, the prerequisite human and organizational capacities must first be developed, the basic community social and political structures must first be created.

Mississippi Action for Community Education, Inc. (MACE) is a non-profit, rural development organization created by community leaders in 1967 to stimulate physical, social, and economic development in the rural Mississippi Delta. The MACE Families First Resource Center (MACE-FFRC) helps this cause through offering life-skills classes that equip individuals with the knowledge needed to sustain a strong, healthy livelihood. The MACE FFRC works through the Department of Human Services, Head Start centers and public schools to provide educational classes free of charge to families and children in the following areas:
- Abstinence Until Marriage - provides pre-teens and teens with accurate and valuable information that will afford them the opportunity to make wise choices.
- Responsible Fatherhood - encourages, empowers, educates, and assists our fathers in becoming knowledgeable of the importance of fulfilling their roles in the lives of their children.
- Healthy Marriages – advocates for strong marriages, educates parents, children, and couples on the meaning, purpose, and responsibilities that come with a lifetime commitment.
- Parenting - provides parents with skills that will help them protect and prepare children to survive and thrive in the society in which they live.
The MACE FFRC also provides helpful resources at our centers located in each county of our service area. Our resource centers are free and open to the public. The MACE FFRC is here to serve and assist you in helping your communities become and remain successful. The MACE FFRC provides classes in Holmes, Humphreys, Washington, and Sharkey counties.
